Enrollment
Enrollment Packets are available in the Main Office. Registration begins May through June prior to the start of the school year. To find out whether you live within our school's attendance boundary, please enter your home address in the Resident School Identifier below.
Age Requirements
For Kindergarten, the child must be 5-years old on or before September 1. Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is designed for students who turn 5-years old from September 1 to December 2.
Registration Requirements
Complete an Enrollment Packet from the Main Office. Please bring your child with you. Only completed packets will be accepted.
You will also need to bring the following items:
- Copy of Parent ID
- Proof of Residence Utility bill (excluding telephone bill) or Mortgage document or signed lease agreement
- Proof of Age Birth Certificate (the recorded copy, not the souvenir from the hospital) or Baptismal records or Passport
- Immunization Record - Immunization must be current. California State Law immunizations are required.
- 5 DTP (Dtap, DTP, Tdap, or Td)
4 doses OK if one was given on or after 4th birthday. 3 doses OK if one was given on or after 7th birthday.) For 7th-12th graders, at least 1 dose of pertussis-containing vaccine is required on or after 7th birthday.
- 4 Polio (OPV or IPV)
3 doses OK if one was given on or after 4th birthday
- 3 Hepatitis B
(not required for 7th grade entry)
- 2 MMR
(Both given on or after 1st birthday)
- 2 Varicella
(history of Chicken Pox Disease, documented on record by a physician, meets the Varicella requirement)
GETTING READY FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Uniforms
Leapwood Avenue Elementary School is considered a uniform school. The daily uniform is as follows:
Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays
Navy blue or khaki bottoms (pants, shorts, skirts, skorts)
White, light blue, navy blue collared shirts
Closed in toes & heels shoes
Thursdays
College or University T-shirt Day
Fridays
Leapwood Lions Spirit Day (purple Leapwood T-shirt)
School Supplies
Basic supplies will be provided by the school such as paper, pencils, crayons, etc. If the teachers request any specific supplies they will send a letter home with your child.
Special Needs
Make the main office aware of your child's special needs, for example Individualized Education Plan (IEP), medications, allergies, etc.
