Principal’s Welcome

Dear Leapwood Family,

This school year we have a new "Technology Plan" approved by the Instructional Technology Initiative Team in which all of our students have an IPAD to use in their classroom daily.

We will continue with the RAMP Tennis program where our children are exposed to the sport of Tennis.

And, we have a brand new Scholastic Guided Reading Leveled Library!

We are looking forward to new and exciting things this school year such as

  • a Leveled Guided Reading Program
  • Writer's Workshop
  • Word Study

Please make sure to continue going to our website for current school information and events at www.leapwoodlions.com.

We plan to “Go Green” and will discontinue sending newsletters/flyers home.

Thanks again for your continued  support. Have a safe and wonderful school year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Camellia Hudley, Principal

SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment) TESTING MAY 2017

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, or CAASPP is the state academic testing program. CAASPP is a system intended to provide information that can be used to monitor student progress on an annual basis and ensure that all students leave high school ready for college and career. CAASSP assessments include computer-adaptive tests in English-language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics for students in grades 3-5 and a paper-based test in science for in grade 5.

This year, students will take the CAASPP test from Tuesday through Friday, May 3rd - 20, 2017. To learn about the types of questions on the computer base tests, access the practice test or for additional information about CAASSP tests, you and your child can visit the Parent and Student information tab towards the center of the page on the California Department of Education (CDE) web site at www.cde.ca.gov./ta/tg/ca/

Any questions regarding CAASPP, please contact Ms. Tanya Cox, Testing Coordinator, at 310-327-8245 or TLC5603@lausd.net.
